One of the definitions of the word close is to be near in relationship. It also means to be intimate and not distant. Closeness is something that God wants with us, because of his great love and affection for us. He also desires to be close to us so that he can bless us in tremendous ways. This, however, will not happen or will be greatly limited, unless we also seek to be close to him. You see, the bible tells us that we must draw nigh unto him, and in doing so, he will draw nigh to us (Heb. 11:6). In other words, we determine how close the relationship will be; simply put, he will go as far as we are willing to go. That said, let me encourage you today to get closer to God, because, this not only leads to a better relationship with him, but also greater blessings in your life; now and in the future.

Heavenly Father we again thank you for your great and unwavering love. You have told us in the bible that you love us and greatly desire to be close to us; just as a hen desires to be close to her chicks. You have also informed us of the blessings of being close to you, by telling us in the bible that you are a great rewarder of them that diligently seek you (Heb. 11:6). Our prayer is that you increase our passion and effort to get closer to you; that we may know you better and experience life more abundantly in, Jesus name. Amen.
