"TAKE THE RISK!"

Today’s Scripture

“Bid me come unto thee on the water.” (Mat. 14:28, KJV)
Today's Word

A number of years ago a gentleman named Charlie Riggs came to Christ.  He was described as a little rough around the edges and kind of inadequate for Christian leadership.  Mr. Dawson, who was discipling him, was basically told to stick with him because God can do much with little; therefore, with patience, he did.

A number of years later a young man named Billy Graham arrived on the scene and Charlie began to work for the Graham team doing follow-up work in their early crusades.  Several years later, in 1957, right before a great crusade was to take place in New York City, the crusade director had to be replaced.  Someone suggested Charlie.  Billy Graham did not think that Charlie could handle it.  Reverend Graham said, “All he does is pray and quote Scripture.”  Nevertheless, the Gentleman insisted, because he believed that Charlie was a man who truly relied on God for everything; and the rest is history.  The model that was established during that crusade became a model that would be used for years to come.
After a number of years of effective service Charlie was asked why he was so effective doing that job without formal education and training.  He said, “I always asked the Lord to put me in over my head.  That way when I had a job to do, either the Lord had to help me or I was sunk.”

Charlie was successful because he was willing to take risk.  He was not willing to play it safe in life: he was willing to step out and trust God to supernaturally provide anything that he lacked; and time after time God did.  Therefore, let me encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and take a chance on letting God supernaturally make the difference in your effort to do something great.  Take the risk. In doing so, I am convinced that God who is not a respecter of persons, will go with you and bless you with whatever is necessary for great success.

Today's Prayer

Heavenly Father we thank you for your goodness and mercy at work in our lives.  We know that you have called us to walk by faith and not by what we see.  Our prayer is that you give us the confidence to do this.  It may seem risky at times, but, as long as we are convinced that you will be there with us and bless us at all times; we can and will, step out and achieve great things.  We ask this in Jesus name. Amen.
